Shrek The Musical takes ‘ogre’ the Royal & Derngate

The smash hit production is back on the road after a record-breaking UK and Ireland Tour, bringing the musical comedy to the Royal & Derngate for two weeks from Wednesday 14 March 2018.

Turning all your favourite fairy tales on their heads, the story and characters from the Oscar-winning Dreamworks Animation have been transformed into an all-singing, all-dancing must-see musical comedy.

Unlikely hero Shrek and his loyal steed Donkey embark on a quest to rescue the beautiful (if slightly temperamental) Princess Fiona from a fire-breathing, love-sick dragon. With the addition of the diminutive Lord Farquaad, a gang of fairytale misfits and a biscuit with attitude, the result is an irresistible mix of adventure, laughter and romance, guaranteed to delight audiences.

Directed by Nigel Harman, who originated the role of Lord Farquaad in the West End production (but is probably best known for playing heart-throb Dennis Rickman in Eastenders, and Mr Green, the villainous valet in Downtown Abbey), the cast includes Steffan Harri as the beloved ogre Shrek, Call The Midwife star Laura Main as Princess Fiona, Marcus Ayton as sidekick Donkey, and Samuel Holmes as the baddie, Lord Farquaad.

Shrek The Musical will be stomping onto the Derngate stage from Wednesday 14 to Sunday 25 March, with evening performances at 7pm Tuesday to Saturday. On Sundays there will be performances at 1pm and 5pm, and there be a 2.30pm matinee both Saturdays and on Thursday 15 March. Tickets are priced from £16 to £49.50 and can be booked by calling Box Office on 01604 624811 or by visiting
