The heart wrenching, political piece of new writing and physical theatre was shortlisted for the Les Enfants Terribles Award 2018.
In Addition premiered at YNAF this summer, and was described as “a human tale told brilliantly” by the Norwich
Eye, and takes to Bedfringe on Wed 18 July 2018.
Orange Skies Theatre‘s play has political bite, exploring the ever looming possibility of a dismantled NHS within the lifetime of the millennial generation. Through physical theatre, innovative lighting design and a bespoke underscore by YouTuber and musician Christopher Bingham, this new play is acutely awake to the world we live in now, but also the life we could be living without free healthcare.
The company, described by Gecko Theatre’s Rich Ruch as “a dynamic young company, full of promise,’ was founded in Norwich in 2016. Orange Skies is a collective of regional artists from various backgrounds, each with a plethora of creative palates. With company members originating from East Anglia, Berkshire and the Midlands, Orange Skies acts as a breeding ground for new talent and invites space for young artists to explore their voice and their work in innovative ways. The company’s ethos revolves around natural devising – allowing for real-world issues to creep into their rehearsal room, bringing them to life.
In Addition has been previously performed as scratch and work in progress performances at The Garage Norwich, the Norwich Puppet Theatre, Pleasance Islington and Vault Festival London. This summer it will be coming to the Young Norfolk Arts Festival, the Kingston Youth International Arts Festival, Bedfringe and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
In Addition takes place on Wed 18 July 2018 at 6.30pm at The Quarry Theatre, Bedford.
