Next To Normal’s Double Whammy At The Core

Next To Normal describe their 50 minute sketch show “Double Whammy” as “a sketch show for people who love all things creative and done well!” and they promise a “bloody good time”

With each sketch taking place in an entirely different genre, Next To Normal’s Liz Shearer and Clare Scoltock whizz the audience through Ballet, Opera, Jazz, Shakespeare, Silent Film and even Techno scenes! They cite Monty Python, Mighty Boosh and Charlie Chaplin as influences on their own brand of anarchic entertainment as they combine Clare’s comedy background and Liz’ classically trained voice.

Clare says ” For me, comedy is the ideal medium for making the classical arts more accessible.”

“Double Whammy” is the second sketch show from the group, which they recently premiered at Brighton Fringe Festival. “It’s like nothing you’ve seen before… but in a good way.”

You can catch Double Whammy at The Core at Corby Cube’s Launchpad Festival on Friday 21st of July, straight after Numbered Days by Theatre in Black. Tickets are £6 or £15 for entry to all three nights of the festival, and are available through The Core’s website, or on 01536 470 470. Booking fee applies.
