From Tuesday 30 October to Saturday 3 November 2018, The Playhouse present Leonard H Caddy’s adaption of the infamous novel
In this retelling of Robert Louis Stevenson’s famous story, Dr. Jekyll is introduced just as he is on the brink of discovering the key to man’s inner reality. One evening he experiments on himself and finds that his formula works. Unfortunately, his “real” self turns out to be the monster Edward Hyde. Jekyll continues his researches, spending more and more time as Hyde until this horrifying character takes over.
The cast features Adrian Wyman as Dr Henry Jekyll, Kevin Evans as Poole, Megan Leask-Walters as Charlotte, Corinna Leeder as Celestine, Antony Newby as Dr Lanyon, Siôn Grace as Utterson, Maggie Holland as Hilda and Nicola Bunting as Penny.
Director Juliet O’Connor became involved with local amateur dramatics in 1988 when she joined the Cogenhoe Players. In the early 90s she became part of a touring theatre called The Roundabout Theatre with the legendary Steve Dimmer. She has also performed with the Lings Players as the principal boy in Puss in Boots, and she starred in Shakers with Kaleidoscope. Juliet joined The Playhouse in 1994 and has directed and performed in numerous plays here, from comedy to period drama with a number of lead roles.
Juliet says “We decided to perform Jekyll & Hyde as it’s on the schools’ curriculum and would hopefully bring a younger audience to our beautiful theatre. I would like to thank all the cast and crew for their dedication and the laughs that we’ve had during rehearsals”
