Filming this week in locations across Northampton is “Headphones” – the latest feature film from local writer/director Thomas Line.
Line is currently studying for an MA in Film Making at Kingston University, London, but has come back to his roots here in Northampton to shoot the project.
Set in his home town, Headphones is Line’s passion project, telling the story of Sarah, an introverted 17 year old who shuts out the world using her ever present headphones. Line describes the film as “a tale of friendship set against the Northampton Underground music scene.”
The cast are also Northampton based, with new up and coming actor Arabella Smith-James in the lead role of Sarah. Producer Oliver Brown says, “Arabella is a relatively new actress but is already proving to be a strong presence. The director knew he wanted her for the part and she delivered a truly engaging performance. Arabella is constantly learning and challenging herself with acting tutorials and workshops, and hopes to seek more work on film in the future. ”
Headphones also stars Olivia Noyce as Naomi, the popular girl. In a world full of stereotypes Olivia brought a new side to the idea of social cliques, and really explored the different ways to interact Sarah. Olivia is a recent graduate from Northampton University but has already landed several acting jobs. She hopes to move to London in the new year and explore even more opportunities in the capital.
And Joseph T Callaghan will be playing Mikey, the social elite, the cool kid, the bad boy. Joseph’s playful nature allowed him to engage with the character and provide the team with lots of improvisational material. As well as acting Joseph is also a keen writer, who has just self published his first novel.
Headphones also stars Ben Hampton and Jamal Franklin as Mikey’s Cronies
